Consumer Associations are entities of a private, independent and non-profit nature, regulated by Law 12/1984, of December 28, on the Galician consumer and user statute.
Its purpose is the information, education and defense of consumers. For Consumer information and defense, there are offices with specialized legal advice services, financed through the subsidies of the Galician Institute of Consumer Affairs, who try to solve consumer conflicts through mediation, or through the Courts of Justice.
These Organizations exercise the representativeness of consumers through the Galician Consumers and Users Council within the Galician Institute of Consumer Affairs, and in all those situations where the interests of consumers are affected.
